FAIR WORK FIRST STATEMENT

Respite Fife supports Fair Work First through the adoption of high standards and fair working practices. Fair work is work that offers all individuals an effective voice, opportunity, security, fulfilment, and respect.

Our staff play a key role in delivering vital services to parents/carers and service users.  Respite Fife aims to provide a positive working environment with high quality and engaging work, where our people feel they belong and can thrive. We care about their safety, health and wellbeing and seek to maximise their talent and skills.

Respite Fife has appropriate channels for effective voice.  Respite Fife also consults our staff directly to seek their views on ways in which we can improve the service we deliver.  We  have regular supportive contact with our staff team in conversations about wellbeing, performance, development, and learning.  We provide training for our managers to improve their support for our diverse and talented workforce to realise their full potential. We also offer our staff team regular training.  Our learning approach provides a wide range of formal and informal learning resources, face-to-face and online, to enhance skills, increase knowledge and build capability across the organisation. We require all of our staff to fulfil essential training, including lone working, medication and health and safety.

Respite Fife has no inappropriate use of zero hours contracts.  In addition to our full-time and part-time employees, we also employ a number of relief workers whose preference is to work on an as and when required basis to allow them flexibility in their personal lives.   Our approach is to enhance diversity and inclusion in the workplace to focus improvements within the organisation.

Respite Fife pay at least the real Living Wage to all employees.  Respite Fife has arrangements with our Management Board to collectively bargain changes to pay and terms and conditions.

Respite Fife offers flexible friendly working practices for all staff to support diversity and inclusion, and to enable the balancing of work life with personal needs. Respite Fife opposes the use of fire and rehire practices and works to avoid such an approach in any circumstance.

Our Fair Work First statement remains under review and open to further improvement.
